Chocolate Almond Bliss Balls

Chocolate Almond Bliss Balls | Mama Papa BubbaOh my goodness…  Miss G is absolutely obsessed with these chocolate almond bliss balls.  Seriously.  She begs for them like they’re candy and when you give her one?  Her eyes light up like it’s Christmas morning.  I love them too – they’re delicious, easy to make, and make for a great portable snack to throw in my purse or into our carry-on when travelling.

The best part is that they’re also super healthy.  Here’s everything you’ll need to make a batch of your own… Some dates {soaked in water if they’re not already soft}, raw almonds, some good cocoa powder, coconut {optional, but yummy}, and some vanilla.

To make them, simply dump everything into a food processor…

And blend it up until the mixture begins to come together.

This is what it should look like when it’s ready.

Then, take about a tablespoon of the mixture, give it a little squeeze in the palm of your hand, and roll it into a ball.

The mixture is easy to work with and the balls form really easily, which is nice.  These were all made by Miss G.

If you don’t eat them all in one sitting {totally what Grae would do if she had the chance}, they keep really well in a container or jar at room temperature.

You can play with the recipe and add all kinds of fun things {oats, raisins, seeds, cinnamon, etc.}, but this is Miss G’s very favourite version…

Chocolate Almond Bliss Balls

  • approximately 12 regular dates soaked in boiling water for about 15 minutes (or about 8 big medjool dates – no need to soak these)
  • 1 cup of almonds (we use raw)
  • 2 tablespoons of good cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened coconut
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla

Drain the dates if soaking.  Remove the pits.  Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until the mixture begins to come together in a ball.  Scoop out about a tablespoon of the mixture at a time, giving it a small squeeze before rolling it into a ball.  Repeat until done.  Store bliss balls in an airtight container or jar at room temperature.

Enjoy!

    1. I don’t, unfortunately, Deborah! Is there a site where you can put the ingredients into to figure it out? If so, this recipe makes approximately 12 to 14 balls. :)

      1. I use the My Fitness Pal app to figure out nutritional values of recipes (my daughter has diabetes and we have to calculate the carbs in everything). If I end up making these (and chances are I will, they sound fantastic!) I’ll let you know…

  1. Have you tried any combinations without almonds. I’d love to make something like this for morning snack time at school but its a nut free zone. Any suggestions to replace the almonds that you may have tried?

      1. I know I’m way late to the party here, but I just did a nut free version for school and they turned out great! I replaced the almonds with 1/2 cup hemp hearts and 1/2 cup rolled oats. Everything else the same. Still really yummy!

  2. How long can they last out of fridge/freezer please? All other bliss balls recipes say to put in fridge and only last like a week approx. Thankyou for your help.

  3. So easy to make and delicious. So hard just to stop at one. This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thank you 🙏
