Take Along LEGO Tic-Tac-Toe

Take Along LEGO Tic Tac Toe | Mama Papa Bubba

Grae and I love playing tic-tac-toe.  We play it down in the courtyard with sidewalk chalk, we play it at the beach in the sand, and we play it at restaurants with napkins and pens.  So why not play with LEGO too?!

Making this take along LEGO tic-tac-toe game could not have been easier.  I simply attached some white 1×2, 1×4, and 1×6 plates onto a green 16×16 base plate to create a ‘game board’ and then rounded up a bunch of colourful 2×2 bricks in sets of 5.  Then I left the game out overnight so that Miss G would discover it in the morning.

Of course she found it almost immediately and wanted to play, so we started our day with several rounds of LEGO tic-tac-toe {as you do}.

After each round, she was responsible for taking the bricks off of the plate using our fancy schmancy brick separator {seriously – where were these when we were kids?!} and then we’d each select a new brick colour and play again.

Her favourite part of course?  Winning!  {Seriously, she got such a kick out of this that I almost wanted to let her win all the time. ALMOST.}

When we were done playing, we placed all of our pieces into a zip-close pouch and placed it on the shelf by the door to take along next time we’re headed out.  I also think this LEGO tic-tac-toe game would be the perfect addition to one of our portable activity kits, and I’m fairly certain this one will be added to ours before making the long trek home to Canada come June.

    1. Oh my goodness, Sue! You’re too sweet! A book is actually something that has popped into mind now and then, so you never know! :D
