I’m Jen. Wife to super daddy, Brad, and proud Mama to our darling girl, Gracen Audrey Marie.
Four years ago, we set out an an overseas adventure and found ourselves living in Kuwait and travelling the world in our free time. Little did we know that we’d be expecting a little bundle after a lovely trip to Ireland our third year in. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. We first set eyes on our little girl in Canada during our summer vacation, and then whisked her away at just 20 days old to spend her first year in the Middle East. That’s when the idea behind Mama. Papa. Bubba. was born. It was comforting to know that those who loved our little lady dearly could pop by and see her growing and changing during her days in Kuwait. Not long after, this little blog became much more than a way to keep our families and friends up to date. It became a place to save memories, milestones, silly stories, and special moments for our future grown girl… A modern day baby book of sorts.
Now we’re back at home in Canada, living in my favourite coastal city, taking advantage of all Vancouver has to offer, and readjusting to life in North America. Until the next adventure sweeps us away, that is. ☺

Hi Jen! It was lovely to meet you at the Vancouver Mom blog night. Looking forward to checking out more of your blog. And of course, I’m still on the hunt for a dress just like the one you were wearing!

Oh, so good to meet you too! I checked out your blog, and Nat was right – it’s hilarious! I loved your most recent post about your hubby. My husband and I are both teachers too, and Brad goes through the same thing with the high school girls. Awkwardly funny that kids are so forward nowadays (God, listen to me – am I ever old!) Let me know if you find the dress… I did check online, but it’s gone! :(
Hey! I wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your blog and that I nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award. For more info you can go to momandboy. Happy blogging :)
Aw, thanks so much! I’ll try my best to get on it soon!
Your food ideas and food styling is amazing! There’s so many wonderful ideas for children’s snacks and meals on your blog. I wish there was a big poster with all your food images & ideas that I could stick up on my kitchen wall for constant inspirations…I would definitely buy something like that!
Aw, thanks so much! The poster is a great idea… Even I could use that in my ‘I don’t know what to make’ moments! Maybe a project for a rainy day. :)

That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sending me the link. Your little girl looks like she had a blast, plus I LOVE the fact that you used the rice for centre pieces… Very creative!
Awe 0 I am just now getting around to reading your “About ” page – I love it – thanks for sharing the pictures, it is always nice to get a face with the name! :) I LOVE Vancouver – I live in Seattle, and we were JUST today talking about how maybe we will get away to VanCity for a few days during the holidays this year.
Aw, that’s awesome! I love finding out where my readers are located – especially when they’re close to me! :) Too funny that you might be coming this way soon… We’re actually headed to Seattle in October for a football game. We love it there and I’m really excited to take our daughter there for the first time. I just checked out your blog and saw you were here in Van for the SeaWheeze run… So cool – congrats on BOTH of your half marathons!
Thank you – that is where I fell in love with Vancouver. The city did not disappoint! I just love the Pacific Northwest in general! Hopefully we have some good weather for you when you come down!
I do love Vancouver too… It’s such a gorgeous city. And I couldn’t agree more about how wonderful the Pacific Northwest is….
We’re so looking forward to the game. The last one we came down for was in December, so the weather is bound to be a little milder this time around. You’ll have to fill me in on Seattle must-dos with munchkins in tow… I’m sure there’s all kinds of wonderful things I overlooked before having a wee one of my own.
Lovely blog! Will follow it ad check out your Etsy store too :)
Thank you! Your blog is lovely too. Your Halloween shirt is priceless! Congrats on the bun in the oven. :)
Thank you so much! Very sweet of you :)
I love your blog ! I wonder how old is your daughter? Mine is 17 months, I would like to introduce her to some of these fun activities in the kitchen, do you think it is too soon? So far she was making lots of mess…and your daughter does everything accurately :))
Hi Ella,
Gracen is just over two. Personally, I think now would be a great time to start trying some fun kitchen activities with your little girl. I started just after Gracen’s first birthday, and you’re right – things can be very messy in the beginning. As long as you don’t mind the mess too much and see the value in the play, let her go for it. And the good news? Her pouring/mixing skills will develop quickly and soon things will be less of a mess. :)
hey .. I nominated you and your blog :) check it out http://myfamilybliss.com/2013/02/13/yay-i-have-been-nominated/
Just found your blog through Link&Learn. I’m a working mom so to me your “creative table” posts are wonderful ways I can leave behind art for my little girl to do while I’m at the office. I just bookmarked you. Thank you for the ideas!
Good news, I’m giving you the “BEST MOMENT AWARD“.

I came across your blog on In Lieu of Preschool’s Link ‘n’ Learn. I looked around and saw several fun crafts ideas. I hope you will come by on Wednesdays and link your crafts and play posts to Artsy Play Wednesday. We also have a new Pinterest Board with over 800 followers where we pin each linked post. I hope to see you there.
Vancouver is a great city! Hi, from Kingston, Ontario!
Hi Maryse! Thanks so much for dropping by. :) I just popped over to your blog and your little guy is ridiculously cute! How is the cloth diapering adventure going? Try not to get too overwhelmed with all you read online… Once we’d broken them in by washing them several times, we just always threw them in the washing machine for a regular cycle and called it good!
Thanks, I think he is too!!
You’re little girl is also so cute, I watched that video of her reading and then checked out some of your older videos of her. I can’t to see my son crawl, your little girl looked so sweet when she was crawling.
Thanks for the tips on the cloth diapers. I haven’t started yet. I think I’ll wash them tomorrow and then see where I go from there, I’m eager to begin though.
Hi… I’ve really enjoyed looking through your blog and once my own daughter is old enough, I’ve got a bunch of things I’m now eager to try with her too. Hope you don’t mind, but I included a picture you took of the Kerrisdale Carnival Days last year for my blog post this week. It was a bit tough to find a photo for that one. If you’d rather not have it included, let me know. I credited your blog in the caption. I’m writing about events in Vancouver for kids under 5 that are less than $5. Here’s the link:

I’ve just recently discovered your blog; I’m obsessed! I’ve been passing your link around the office to everyone with littles. I have two kids which are 21 years apart so, things were much different when I had my first than they are now. My 10 month old is not limited by his mom’s own creative mind. I can now draw from others. Thank you for your ideas. I seriously want to be a kid again and have a mom like you. Keep up the great posts!
Tina
Yes, I agree with everyone. Your blog is beautiful and ideas and presentation are very fun and clean. Do you happen to have any pics up, showing how you organize all of your supplies and, ideas on what to do with all of the old art work? I really love your new book too! Awesome idea! Thank you! Claudine
