Our Christmas tree arrived this afternoon… Taking out our ornaments and testing the lights was an interesting task with one very curious little lady around, but her reaction to the initial tree lighting made it more than worth it. :)

Neck in Neck
Video games with his little lady… Papa’s dream come true. (Okay, so maybe they’re just pretending, but I’m sure this actually happen one day soon.) :)
Play Gym at Hillcrest

Today we decided to try something new and headed down to Hillcrest Centre to try out their Play Gym morning…
The Hillcrest gym is really beautiful. It’s surrounded with giant windows on three sides, with one looking out onto a giant field, one looking out onto the curling rink, and the other looking out onto the skating rink.

Clearly Grae enjoyed spying down at people.

And although there was lots of new equipment to try, there were many of her old Sunset Centre favourites too. We’ll definitely be back.

Story Time with Papa ~468 days old

This is a daily occurrence in our house… Gracen just sprawls out on her Papa while they read stories together. It melts my heart.
Dip-ah ~467 days old
Luckily Gracen’s appetite has returned to normal this week, so our days no longer revolve around preparing food and cleaning up the inevitable messes. One thing that has not changed, however, is her obsession with “dip-ah”. She will dip everything and anything, which makes for some interesting combinations.
Bright Nights in Stanley Park ~468 days old
Our good friends Tom and Sue had a couple of extra tickets to tonight’s opening night of Bright Nights in Stanley Park and very generously invited us to join them. It had been a busy day with our trip down to Bellingham and because Miss G had had an early nap on the way there, she ended up falling asleep on the way to Stanley Park. Imagine her surprise when she woke up in her Ergo, surrounded by crowds of noisy kids and millions of sparkling lights! It was great timing that she woke up when she did though, because we were just about to board the miniature train.
Quick States Trip ~466 days old
We’d been planning a trip down to Bellingham for a couple of weeks now and although we had a bit of a rough start when our vehicle wouldn’t turn over this morning, we made it to our destination just slightly behind schedule. Some of my girlfriends had told me how inexpensive the groceries are in the States, and we wanted to check it out for ourselves… Boy, oh boy – were they ever right. We did a huge grocery shop and most of our staple items we buy every week were half price or a third of the price we’d normally pay here in Vancouver. Score!
Fun in the Tub ~465 days old
Loving the tub crayons she got for her birthday.
Attacked ~464 days old
We eventually decided that we trusted the itty bitty birdie that was hanging out near by and that it was safe sneak little bits of bred. Grae obviously wasn’t overly shaken by the whole incident, because she did offer to share with her new smaller birdie friend. I had to quickly put the kibosh on that though. No need to attract the attention of the other birds again.
Disaster Strikes ~463 days old
What started as an innocent bowl of bananas and berries soon became disastrous this afternoon. First off, it required some “dip-ah”. Yogurt was the natural choice.
Walking in the Rain ~463 days old
And perfectly happy about it.
The Perfect Potty ~462 days old
Ever since we started Gracen on the potty at 10 months old, she’s used just the regular toilet. Sure, it means that you have to hold her there so that she and her little tush don’t fall right in, but it works just fine and it means no potty scrubbing after each use. One potty I really love, however, is the little toilet in the family washroom at Oakridge Mall. It’s just like a real toilet, but it’s super short and has a special seat so even the littlest customers can use it all by themselves. Grae likes it too. :)

Gracen’s obsession with shoes continues…
