This afternoon, while I was brushing my teeth and throwing on some lipgloss in the bathroom and Miss G was watching at the doorway, Grae announced that she was going to tell me a story. This is it, word for word (giant pauses and all).
Once upon a time…. There was a nice mum mum. She was brushing her… teeth. And Grae Grae loved her brushing her teeth. But theeeeeen… Gracen sat on her head!!!
Such a strange little doodle I spend my days with.
Gracen was having trouble falling asleep tonight, so I went into her room to talk to her. I explained that when I’m having a hard time falling asleep, I think about all of the things that make me happy. I asked if she had any ideas of things she could think about, and without so much as pausing, she began her list…
“Ice cream, gardening, parks, books, Mama, Papa, and sleeping.”
Gracen’s been really into names lately, and she’s constantly asking, “Her name is?” or “His name is?” about people and characters she doesn’t know. Here’s a little conversation that took place tonight during dinner…
Gracen: (as she slowly walks towards the kitchen while giving me a adorably sly sideways smile) Grae Grae have some yogurt raisins?
Mama: (raises her eyebrows)
Gracen: (in a sing-songy voice mastered only by hearing it time and time again) It’ll cost three kisses… (she quickly jumps into my lap, takes my face in her hands, delivers three very purposeful kisses, and jumps down again)
Mama: Thanks for the kisses, Love.
Gracen: Grae Grae has yogurt raisins now. Dat’s a treat. Grae Grae has a treat, Mama has a treat. Mama has TWO treats!
