While I quite like the super simple no-fuss chocolate play dough we made on vacation with an empty pantry, it just isn’t quite as lovely as our usual play doughs, and that’s simply not right when you love play dough as much as we do. ☺ So today, during quiet play time, I set off to re-vamp our recipe and create a super soft and squishy chocolate play dough that was every bit as good as all of our other doughs… And I’m happy to report that I succeeded! Here’s the recipe…
Super Soft & Squishy Chocolate Play Dough
– 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup salt
– 1/4 cup cocoa
– 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
– 3/4 cup boiling water
– 1 tablespoon oil
– 1 teaspoon glycerine
Whisk the dry ingredients together before adding the wet ingredients in and giving the mixture a good, vigorous stir. At this point, the dough will seem much too sticky, but resist the urge to add flour just yet! Let it cool for a bit, then knead it really well. You should find that the stickiness disappears as it cools and you’ll be left with a super soft and lovely dough. Store in a sealed container at room temperature when not in use.
Enjoy!!
