One of the things I was spoiled with on my recent birthday was a camera lens I’ve been lusting after for a long while now. Though I’ve only had it a few hours, I must say – I think I’m already in love! I took it along on a walk of the family farm tonight and here are some of the images I was able to snap…
As far as my new challenge goes, I have to say I’m loving it! My camera has remained in manual mode since the day of our workshop and every single photo I’ve taken since this post has been shot manually. They certainly haven’t all been good (in fact many have been pitch black), but after two months of practice, I can say without a doubt that I’m so glad I took the leap. My photos are slowly getting better, shooting in manual is much more natural now, and I have a ton more control on what my photos actually turn out like. And I can almost guarantee that this new lens will make the transition that much more fun.

After an easy breezy 6 hour road trip up to the Okanagan (seriously, this new colouring obsession is pretty awesome, especially during car trips) we arrived to Brad’s parents place where a new hammock was waiting to be set up. Gracen helped her Papa put it together and they jumped in immediately afterwards. These photos I was able to catch are some of my new favourites.

We made our way home to the Okanagan this afternoon and I must say this little lady probably picked the best ever spot to need to pull over… Peeing on the side of the highway isn’t that bad when it’s in a field of wild flowers.

This morning Grae and I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out with the lovely Little Miss Mama and her adorable curly-haired girl. There was good play, an explosion of toys, many sharing opportunities, and best of all, a make your own pizza station for lunch. The girls made pizza together, ate over an episode of Winnie the Pooh (I think this blew G’s mind), and us mamas got a few minutes to chat in between. Oh, and Grae ate FIVE pieces of pizza, so lunch was obviously delicious.
It was the perfect play date. We’ll miss these two ladies terribly while in Kuwait.

Oh, goodness. Quite obviously the rain and being cooped up indoors got the best of us today as this is what we spent a good chunk of time doing this morning… Laying in bed taking crazy photos of ourselves with Photo Booth. Grae could have continued all day as she was more than happy to just watch herself on the screen {jumping most of the time}, but we eventually put away the computer, got dressed in proper clothes, and got outside – something we both needed. ☺

After a sleep in for Brad and a pancake breakfast, we packed up some beach things and headed down to the beach to celebrate Father’s Day. We played in the water, built sand castles, and had a yummy picnic lunch. Of course Miss G insisted on having her entire body buried in the sand also.
After a nap for Miss G, we enjoyed a family game of hide-and-seek, some playground time, and dinner out along the river. It was a good day.

This happened tonight… Miss G’s first ever ice cream cone. And oh my goodness, did she ever love it. Before we knew it, all that was left was sticky fingers and a drippy chin and dress.
She’s already planned our next two flavours too – pumpkin with cinnamon first, and then strawberry afterwards. There’s bound to be plenty of ice cream in our future.
{Healthier} Creamy Coconut Ice Cream with Candied Coconut Sprinkles
Ice cream:
Whisk all ingredients together in a large bowl, then place in fridge to cool for a couple of hours. Process in an ice cream machine for 20 minutes and put into the freezer for a few hours to set.
Sprinkles:
Put both ingredients into a jar or bag and shake well. Spread coconut out on a baking sheet in a thin layer. Roast at 250 degrees until crunchy and golden brown.
Enjoy!
