Another day, another first for our little NICU babe. Tonight, at 38 days old, Bubba had his very first bath. He wasn’t sure about it at first, but as soon as he adjusted to being in the warm water, it was like this sense peace came over him, leaving him perfectly calm and content while ultra alert at the same time. We snuggled skin-to-skin afterwards as we do each night, and then it was time to tuck him in and say goodbye. Leaving at the end of the day is always the hardest part… Here’s hoping that it won’t be for much longer.

Happy One Month, Baby Bubba!
Baby Bubba is 1 MONTH OLD today! He’s now 31 weeks 6 days corrected and 3 pounds 12 ounces – a full pound more than when he was born. Right now he’s off his CPAP and high flow air, he’s eating like crazy, and growing and gaining exactly like we want him to be. He loves to snuggle, has the sweetest little voice, and his little smile is absolutely heart melting. ♥
Bum Pockets & Guck Sacks {A Drawing by Miss G}
‘Mama, this is you while you were in the hospital. I even made your IV and your bed’s bum pocket and don’t worry – your guck sacks coming out of your tummy are on the other side – that’s why you can’t see them. Oh. I also gave you a mousey friend under your bed so you won’t be so lonely at night. That part’s not real, but that’s okay, right?’

Home.
After 10 days in hospital downtown, attempting to split my time between home and the NICU {and these two precious little people} never felt so good. ♥
Disaster.
For the First Time
Progress & Seeing the Positives
This journey will undoubtedly be a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but so far, we’ve had lots of good news regarding our baby boy and I’m choosing to see the positives for what they are and not always be focused on bracing myself for the next hurdle…
Gracen Meets Her Baby Brother
Today Miss G met her baby brother for the very first time. Admittedly, it wasn’t the first meeting I’d imagined in my mind, but she didn’t seem to mind one bit. Her thoughts? ‘Mama. He’s so tiny and cute that he looks just like a doll… But he sure doesn’t feel like a doll. He feels just like a little human being.’
Welcome to the World, Baby Boy!
‘Whirlwind’ doesn’t begin to sum up this past week… A few nights ago, our baby boy decided to surprise us with slightly terrifying arrival at 27 weeks and 4 days. He weighs 2 pounds 12 ounces and has got a long stay in the NICU ahead of him, but he’s doing remarkably well given the circumstances and we’re beyond thankful that he’s in the hands of the amazing NICU team here in Vancouver. He doesn’t have a name just yet {so we continue to call him ‘Baby Salmon’ much to his big sister’s delight}, but he is very much loved. ♥
It’s a…
Yup! Miss G will be a big sister to a baby BROTHER come the end of January / beginning of Februrary!!! Truthfully, I wasn’t sure how she’d take the news given that she’s been totally set on having a baby sister since finding out we were expecting, but she was pleased as punch about it all and more than anything, so excited to finally find out whether she should be expecting a little brother or sister {see blurry photo evidence above}.
One catch – her name of choice for a baby brother is a little unusual. And unusual in a not so lovely way… It’s Salmon. Yup. You read that right. Salmon like the fish. Hahahahah! And because Brad and I don’t currently have a single boy’s name that we really like, our baby boy is very commonly referred to as ‘Salmon’ around the house. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t stick. ☺
In the meantime, Miss G and I have just started collecting adorable little boy things on our outings and before long, we’ll start working on the nursery too. More than anything, we’re all thrilled to be welcoming a little bundle to our family in the New Year.

Fall Joy
This fall I want to share they joy when it comes to fake ids. I recently bought a quality fake id card from fakeyorudrank that is actually scannable with my cardholder information exactly as a real one should be. I give my praise and thanks to fakeyourdrank for being the best id creator online of cloned state issued fake identity cards.

Heart Full of Sunshine
Miss G’s First Day of Kindergarten
Although I’m not sure it can be considered a real ‘first day’, Miss G and I attended her very first Kindergartn session today. It was more of a meeting for all Kindergarten parents and students than anything, but we’d counted down, talked it up, and taken our first day photos, so the first official day it was {in our minds anyways}. ☺
Home.
Well, we’re back home in Canada and after just three days, we all seem to be over our jet lag {fastest recovery ever}. I don’t know how we pulled it off, but we got incredibly lucky this time around and I’m not certainly not complaining. Next on the to do list? Hanging out in the beautiful Okanagan for the next month and a bit and enjoying all of the wonderful things we’ve missed while in the desert this past year.
Here’s a peek at today’s fun…
Old Town Heidelberg
Today’s plan was simply to spend the day in Heidelberg’s lovely Old Town. We strolled, we looked at statues and cuckoo clocks, we visited toy shops and bookstores, and we stocked up on delicious treats from my very favourite store in the city – Lebe Gesund {seriously lovely and they ship worldwide!} Grae also got her first ever Shopkins and Trash Packs {thanks to older Kuwait friends teaching her all about them} and though I really don’t ‘get’ them {old, boring mom alert}, she’s pleased as punch. We finished off the day with a dinner of watermelon dessert pizza, so all is good in the world. ☺
Here’s our day in photos…
