At Baba’s House
With the weather forecast calling for a whole lot of rain today, we decided to pack up the crew and head to our Baba’s house a couple of days early today. Turns out that the weather was pretty awesome and we probably could have had another lovely day out on Sylvan Lake, but there’s truly no better place than Baba’s house. Here, you’re given little glass bowls of honey to dip your popcorn into. Here, picking beautiful flowers from the gardens is allowed. Here, latex gloves are rounded up and distributed in hopes of making bubble catching missions more successful. Here, everyone drinks from fancy glass goblets and there’s not a bat of an eye when one breaks in two. Here, you’re welcomed with open arms, even on the shortest of notice…
Ridiculously Fun Colourful Bubble Foam
Bubble Painting
Yesterday Miss G and I finally got around to something that’s been on my mental activity list forever now… Bubble painting! Now if you cruise Pinterest, you’ll see that bubble painting is all over the internet and everyone seems to do it a little bit differently. Variations include all different sorts of bubble solutions, wands, and methods, so we just made up our own.
Glow-in-the-Dark Bubble Bath
Tonight, to celebrate the end of a lovely Halloween, we put together one of our old favourites – a glow-in-the-dark bubble bath.
A handful of glow sticks and a chunk of Lush’s Calacus jelly run under warm water, and we had a colourful, bubbly, glowing bath.
And since Grae’s been carrying around these little ghost candles for the last week, we decided that tonight would be the perfect time to put them to use.

Party Preppin’
Tomorrow we’re celebrating Gracen’s second birthday with a backyard party. We’re so lucky that Grandma Charlotte was able to come down a couple days early and help us out, because between all of the weeding, pressure washing, pruning, and general cleanup (all things that have needed to be done for some time now), we’ve been busy! Grae’s of course been loving every moment of extra grandma time, hours outdoors, and “helping”… Not to mention the accidental discovery of the odd ‘surprise’ here and there (much like this awesome little bubble machine I found on clearance)… Oh, the joy of bubbles!

Beaches, bubble blowing, and building sand castles…

The Simple Things
I’m ashamed to say that this is what our yard looks like right now. The garden beds are badly overgrown and the grass could better be described as a clover field. Inexcusable, really, but I blame it on the fact that we’ve been on vacation. Must rectify the situation asap.
With that out of the way, is there anything more wonderful than the joy bubbles bring?
I don’t think so. Well, not many, at least. I just love watching little ones squeal with delight as they chase bubbles floating in the wind. Such a simple, simple thing, yet it brings so much excitement.
That being said, why is it that we saw {young} children with electronics at Jericho today? Since when did iPads and handheld gaming devices become beach toys? And when did bubbles and buckets and seashells become not enough? Please say it isn’t so.

Saturday Snapshots
After a quick torrential downpour and a whole family nap (amazing!) the sun decided to grace us with its presence. After a string of rainy days, we wasted no time heading out into the backyard to soak up a little dose of vitamin D. We gathered up some sidewalk chalk, bubbles, our cloud dough sensory bin, a water sensory bin, a tricycle and a bicycle, multiple blankets, and homemade popsicles and enjoyed a laid-back afternoon outdoors, just the three of us. Here are a few snapshots…
