Celebration play dough, also known as ‘party play dough’ in our house, is a favourite. I mean really… How can you not love it? It’s super sparkly and shiny, it’s bright and colourful, and it’s soft and squishy. Fun on soooo many levels. So in preparation for the big day tomorrow {how is it already NYE?!}, Miss G and I whipped up a fresh batch this morning.

As always, Grae and I start our celebration play dough by following our basic play dough recipe. The only difference is that we leave out the Kool-Aid and add a ridiculous amount of foil confetti glitter {between a 1/2 cup and a full cup, depending on how sparkly we want it to be}. We bought our glitter at Dollar Tree and brought some along, but you can also find it on Amazon and at craft shops and party supply stores. {Everyone travels with a container full of foil glitter, right? Please say I’m not the only one.}
What I love most about this recipe, besides it being no-cook and no-fuss, is that even though it calls for both cream of tartar and glycerine, you can easily do without in a pinch and it still turns out just fine. {Sadly, no… I don’t travel with cream of tartar and glycerine. So vacation play dough goes without.}
Either way, the result is gorgeous, glittery dough that basically just begs little hands to dig into it.
Come on 2015, we’re ready for you! ☺

This looks so fun! What a great gift to make for kids!
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
Can you use only cream of tartar and leave out the glycerin?
That kind of glitter is very sharp…it’s beautiful though!
