So grateful that each and every morning begins snuggled up to this little beauty.

iPhoneography // Fun at Bright Minds
A little peek at our ‘all about me’ themed Crafty Kids class today…
We started out with a collaborative life-sized portrait…
iPhoneography // Sleepy Bear
My little lady and I had a mama and munchkin shopping morning today and Grae ended up coming home with this silly sleeping mask we both thought would be perfect for long plane rides. Turns out, it’s great for car naps too! She put it on on the way home and before I knew it she was out like a light. ☺

iPhoneography // Styrofoam Structures
This afternoon while G was resting I set out this simple invitation to play for our weekly play date… Some styrofoam pieces, a couple of little hammers and {not sharp} knives, chopsticks, and a bunch of fun loose parts.
iPhoneography // Turtle Day at Bright Minds
Have I mentioned how much we love visiting Bright Minds each week? It’s something both Grae and I look forward to… She gets to see her little friends and play with all sorts of fun toys, I get to see my mama friends, and we get to do a fun project {or two} together.

I’ve been dreading today since we first decided we were moving back to Kuwait… The day when we had to go for Gracen’s residency visa “medical”. There are so many things I truly enjoy about living in Kuwait, but dealing with any sort of government clinic process is simply not on the list. The facilities are dingy, the nurses are brash, and there’s no effort made to explain anything to either the parent or the child. It’s not lovely to say the least. Luckily, I’ve done this once before and knew exactly what to expect. I had all of my ducks in a row before going and prepped myself to speak up and not be pushed around last night.
iPhoneography // Hello Gracen
Ever since moving back to Kuwait, Miss G has seen other kids strolling around The Avenues with elaborately painted faces done at Baroue. By far, her favourite has been the full-face Hello Kitty design. Until today, I’d slyly been putting it off, but when she asked this morning during breakfast, I agreed to go at least go and check it out. Lo and behold, we arrived to find not a single person in line, so today was the day {oy}. I sort of cringed as I watched her entire face being covered in paint, but it was fast, the face painter was excellent, and she was so thrilled with the outcome that I couldn’t help but be thrilled for her. Plus, I’ll admit that she does make a pretty cute Hello Gracen. ☺

My favourite photo from today’s adventure. ♥
iPhoneography // Unsure
Goodness gracious, has it ever been storming today! We’re loving the rain, but I’m not so sure Grae loves the thunder that’s so loud our windows vibrate.
iPhoneography // Fahaheel Bouncy Castle
Miss G and I go to Fahaheel often in the mornings and always see two bouncy castles, side-by-side, laying deflated on the ground. She asks about them constantly during our visits – why they’re there, who they belong to, when they’ll be up – and I never have the answers because there is no one around to ask. Today, however, when we went with friends a little later than usual, we were very surprised to see them inflated and just waiting for little jumpers. Can you tell how thrilled she was?!

Today while at Zebra, one of our favourite book / craft supply stores here in Kuwait, Gracen asked if she could choose a package of stickers to take home with her. I agreed and she took her time selecting the perfect set… A collection of helicopters! When we got home, she asked for our roadway washi tape and a couple of cloud shapes drawn on white paper. I obliged and began making lunch while she put together this… I asked her about it and she explained that the blue paper is for the blue sky, the helicopters are flying in the clouds, and the road is for them to land on when they’re done flying. Seeing her proudly dream up and create scenes like this all on her own makes my mama heart very happy.

iPhoneography // Oh, Kuwait.
I must say, our usual day-to-day life here in Kuwait is pretty peachy… We’ve got a giant apartment that houses all sorts of fun things for Miss G to explore, we’re part of a pretty awesome expat community, we have a housekeeper that comes five days a week, and we can very comfortably afford for me to be at home with Gracen full-time.
But days like today…. Ugh. Days like today remind me of what a challenge it can be to live here sometimes. And today that feels like an understatement.
The day started off great. Grae and I got ready and were out the door by 8:25 a.m. We met up with a lovely group of expat moms and dads and enjoyed good coffee and a delicious breakfast at Dean & Deluca. We picked up a few things for the Halloween goodies we’re making this year and stopped by Pottery Barn Kids to ooh and ahh at all of the pretty things. Then we headed home with one teeny errand to do on the way – pick up cupcake liners from the hardware store. (Weird, yes. But that’s the only place I’ve found in Kuwait that carries Wilton supplies and we were in search of very specific colours.)
