It’s no secret that Miss G and I adore books. We’ve got shelves and shelves of them and I have absolutely no guilt about adding a few favourites here and there. I add them to Easter baskets, they’re part of our Christmas Eve tradition, and they’re a staple birthday gift in our house… You just can’t have too many, in my opinion.
Besides the fact that curling up with your little one to enjoy a stack of books is an absolutely lovely way to pass time, I love that books can inspire so much. They’re great discussion starters, they’re a wonderful way to work through big emotions, they can spark beautiful art projects and meaningful imaginative play… The possibilities are truly endless {and I really do mean that}. During my many years as a nanny, teacher, tutor, and {now} parent, book-based activities have become an absolute favourite of mine and I find that kids usually enjoy them just as much! The best part is that I’ve found that there are a handful of fun activities that work with almost any children’s book, which makes things easy.
Here’s a sneak peek of my 5 favourite ways to bring children’s books to life…
Can you guess what they are?
To find out more, pop on over to CBC Parents and read our ‘5 Ways to Bring Children’s Books to Life’ post where I explain each activity in detail.
