Miss G has been all about drawing lately and here she is creating her latest masterpiece…
That little smile at the end pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?? She’s over the moon.

Sooooo…. We have some news to share, but instead of sharing it myself, here’s us telling Miss G last week. She didn’t want to sit and chat initially {I mean, hey – whose got time for sitting nowadays, right?!}, but her reaction is pretty priceless.
Hahaha! I think I could watch this again and again forever. That grumpy little face turned wide-eyed smile just melts me and I’m so glad she’s happy.
Gracen absolutely cannot get enough of this song lately. We’re talking on repeat, every single awake moment of every day if she could. She first heard it 10 days ago, and she’s pretty much got the lyrics nailed. {I don’t blame her though… I quite like it too.}
Oh my word. Today after teaching Grae how to build the simplest of Lego trees, she excitedly announced, ‘I know! Let’s make a video and I can teach everyone how to build this very beautiful tree!’
Last year, when Miss G turned two, we did her first ever birthday interview. I prepared a short list of questions, then recorded our conversation as I asked about her interests and likes and she shared her responses. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched that little video since… The enthusiasm that moves her whole body as she tells me her favourite colour… the way she bursts into dance when I ask her about the song she loves best… her silly little antics when she sings happy birthday at the end – they just make me melt. It makes my heart happy that I have a tiny snippet in time frozen, to remember always.
So, with another birthday under her belt, early this morning I asked my newly minted three year old the same questions I asked one year ago.
And here’s this year’s keepsake…

Our girl is a true music lover. She just adores music. When given the choice, she’ll almost always choose to watch a music videos over a kids’ shows, she memorizes faster than I can, and it’s rare to find her not dancing, singing, or holding a microphone of some sort.
This afternoon, she watched these two videos back to back several times. She strategically placed her plastic golf club in a blanket to create a mic and mic stand and strummed along on her guitar while practicing the words. If I would have let her, she probably would have watched until dinnertime. And I don’t blame her… Watching these sisters sing almost always brings shiver bumps to my arms or tears to my eyes. How it’s possible to have that much talent at that young of an age, I don’t know. Blows me away every time.

Because I just can’t help myself, here’s Miss G reading ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ again, only this time through to the last page she almost always awkwardly skips ‘because it’s a tricky one’. ☺
Over the past month or so, Gracen’s been really into reading to us rather than having us read to her. Many of the books she enjoys reading most are favourites that we’ve read again and again {and thus she’s memorized}, and others have a strong pattern and easy-to-follow picture cues, like this one. It makes my heart very happy to see how much our little lady loves reading, and I hope that never changes. Here she is reading the first half of ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’

Gracen’s been interested in letters, their names, their sounds, and words that begin with them for quite some time now. She’s also known how to verbally spell her name for just as long (longer actually), but the two had never really come together. While she’s asked me to print her name quite a lot, she’s never attempted to ‘make’ her name using her foam bathtub letters, her letter magnets, or any of the other alphabet manipulatives we have around the house.
Until tonight that is…
This evening she came to me as I was preparing dinner and said, “Mama, come see!” I went into her room to find that she’d climbed up onto her shelf, retrieved her baby blocks, and was carefully arranging them in order to spell her name.
Smart little cookie.

Long ago, I told Brad I wouldn’t post this video online. But after sifting through all of our Kuwait photos last night, I just couldn’t help myself (sorry babe!). The cuteness is ridiculous and I’m hoping that makes up for me not keeping my word. I mean just look at those chunky thighs and that little booty… You simply can’t be upset after being witness to those.
