Yesterday while visiting The Apple Barn out in Abbotsford, Miss G fell in love with the itty bitty pumpkins scattered throughout the u-pick pumpkin patch. While we’re planning a family trip to pick the pumpkins we’ll carve later in the month, she totally convinced me to buy a couple of mini ones by telling me all about her grand plans to decorate Rosealina and Harold {yes, she even had names for them} with some of the fun craft supplies we keep on our art cart. {I mean how can you say no really?}
Numbers are currently HUGE in our house. Writing numbers, counting, skip counting, subtraction, dividing things into equal groups, addition… You name it, Grae loves it. {And of course I love that she loves it. ☺}
Mmm… These delicious pumpkin spice pancakes are quickly becoming a weekend staple in our house… In fact, they’re so good that it’s very likely that I might not go back to making regular pancakes until next spring. {Not that I think anyone around here would mind.}
As usual in our house, a new season means new play dough kits, and what better way to start off fall than with a fall-themed play dough kit?! Grae and I have been collecting little odd and ends for this one for the last couple of weeks, so we were really excited to finally put it all together and play with it this morning… {Fyi, It smells amaaaazing!}
This fall I want to share they joy when it comes to fake ids. I recently bought a quality fake id card from fakeyorudrank that is actually scannable with my cardholder information exactly as a real one should be. I give my praise and thanks to fakeyourdrank for being the best id creator online of cloned state issued fake identity cards.
Mmmm… Apples and peanut butter. Such a good combination. Even better? Apple peanut butter salad that incorporates crunchy grapes, sweet bananas and the yummiest peanut butter ‘dressing’ too. Miss G loves this salad and it makes for a perfect after school snack {or breakfast or lunch in Grae’s opinion}. It’s easy to make too!
This year Miss G was really torn between making spider web slime and monster slime Halloween favours for her preschool co-op friends, so we decided to both! I think they both turned out absolutely adorably, but I especially love the simple little faces Grae created for these tubs of monster slime.
Slime… It’s probably Miss G’s favourite thing to give to her friends when Halloween rolls around each year. I don’t blame her – it’s stretchy and gooey and just plain fun. In the past we’ve done mini mason jars of pink sparkly slime for her ballerina friends and little Franken-SLIME containers for the kiddos that live in our building, and this year we’ve decided on two new types of slime giveaways for her buddies – the first of which is these spider web slime halloween favours.
After five {quite painful} days of looking for a new place to call home here in Vancouver, Brad and I {not surprisingly} ended up having different favourites. My choice, a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom / 2 level townhouse, was small, but in a really lovely vibrant community filled with young families and coffee shops, restaurants, and other amenities that were all very walkable. His choice {and the one we ended up choosing}, was a big, old, quirky free-standing 3 bedroom + office / 1 bathroom home on the outskirts of the city in a less walkable neighbourhood… So what sold me on the house that in my mind meant more cleaning, more time in the car, and needing more stuff to fill it? Without a doubt, it was the spacious, beautifully-lit sunroom that I knew would make a perfect playroom and creative space for Miss G. And while it’s still a work in progress as we empty out our last few boxes and re-purchase a few of her items that weren’t worth shipping, it’s already become a favourite spot in the house.
Ahhh…. Autumn. It’s something we haven’t experienced in the last couple of years, and though I certainly would mind being poolside soaking up Kuwait’s 40 degree heat currently, I’m loving seeing all of the beautiful fall colours pop up early around Vancouver this year. Of course, Gracen {my little collector of sticks, rocks, and all things nature} is loving it too. There are just so many fun things to be discovered outside right now!
As I was brainstorming some fun lunchbox ideas last week, one of the staple kids’ lunchbox snacks that came to mind was yogurt tubes. Kids love them… They’re fun, usually covered in branded characters, and sometimes even turn your tongue blue. Plus, they can be frozen ahead of time and not only stay cool until lunch or snack time, but also serve as an icepack in your lunchbox. ☺
Ahhh…. Community centre classes. One of the things we definitely missed while away! I really can’t say enough good things about them… Here in Vancouver, there are tons of different classes offered at the community centres around the city – all of which are very affordable and save swimming lessons, quite easy to get into too. Not to mention that because families tend to attend classes at the centre closest to them, they’re also in walking distance from home {win!}
