Oh my goodness… At nearly 3 and a 1/2 months corrected, baby bubba is so much fun these days! Beyond being super social and chatty, he’s really starting to play now, and I just love it.

For the last three months, we’ve been using a local cloth diapering service, and let me tell you – it’s been a total game changer. I think all parents are busy {that’s just the nature of the job}, but after Sam’s surprise arrival 3 months earlier than expected, our NICU stay, our many appointments, his recent surgery, plus all that comes with also having a busy-bodied 5 year old {outings! school! activities! swim lessons!}, it’s been an absolute blessing to not have to worry about having a fresh stock of clean nappies ready to go at all times too. We choose to cloth diaper for many reasons and it’s something that’s important to us, so we would make it work if we had to, but honestly – having Happy Baby Cheeks take care of everything for us has been really, really nice.

With spring now in full force, it was time for a new addition to our ongoing play dough kit collection. Though my first thought was to put together a spring garden set, we’ve made several very similar kits in the past and our garden set got a ton of play last spring, so I figured we’d switch it up this time around.

This week Miss G and I have been enjoying an old favourite – some slimy frog pond sensory play! It’s funny how some things just never seem to get old… I love that about play – it sort of just evolves with the child as she grows and changes herself.

Okay, so this is quite possibly the simplest activity ever, but it was thoroughly enjoyed and I was blown away with what Miss G did with it. Earlier today, as Grae was cleaning up from quiet play time, I quickly popped outside to the yard to see what sort of spring nature items I could find. I knew I was definitely going to be borrowing a blossom or two off of the beautiful tree we currently have out front, and I managed to find all sorts of other pretty things too.

I feel like we’ve had such a big month this month. First off, we seem to have hit a huge turning point as far as Sam’s overall comfort and happiness is concerned, which has been a total game changer.

I’ve always loved making holidays special for Miss G, but my goodness… Now that we have two?? It’s most definitely double the fun. {At least!} This was our sweet little Sam’s very first Easter, and though it was a super low-key, rainy day with just the four of us, it was perfect.

Miss G’s dream situation in life currently is that she and her baby brother would wear matching outfits {or at the very least – coordinating outfits} every day of the week. And while I’m 100% onboard with the idea, it’s not that easy because a) the whole boy / girl thing, and b) the 5 year age gap.

This little man… He’s become so social and smiley recently and I’m just soaking it up. Every night before bedtime we sit and chat together. I tell him things and ask him questions and he fills in my pauses in conversation with the sweetest little coos and sounds. I’m so lucky to get to be his mama.

We’d love to have you!

Most kids look forward to pancakes and waffles and other hot breakfasts on the weekend… But mine? She looks forward to Saturday morning milk and cereal {absurd little thing}. Admittedly, I don’t care much for cereal myself, then add in the fact that almost every cereal on the shelf is absolutely loaded with sugar {even the plain / ‘healthy’ ones}, and it just doesn’t happen often in this house. That being said, we do have a few options I feel good about and we used one to make milk and cereal popsicles today! Perhaps the weirdest creation ever, but you think outside the box when you’ve got way too much milk nearing its due date.

I absolutely love playing the Easter bunny, and this year, with baby bubba now here, it’s twice as much fun! Besides the fact that I just couldn’t wait, we’ll be away for a good chunk of next week, so I figured I’d get everything picked up and ready to go this week so that I’m ready for when Easter weekend rolls around. I still have to add grass and make them look pretty, but I think we’re now pretty much good to go as far as Easter baskets are considered. ☺
A couple of days ago, Miss G and I had the absolute pleasure of having a morning out at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. together. Besides it genuinely being one of our favourite kid-friendly restaurants in the city {I’ve written about it several times in the past – see here and here}, while there, we got to hang out with fellow blogging friends, sample the delicious brunch menu {yum!}, and learn all about dyeing Easter eggs naturally! Our kind of morning.

Today was such a good day. It included sunshine, blue skies, and an evening at Dusk nightclub in Alabama. My girfriends and I are under twenty-one and of course the law is you most be older than that to enter a bar with ID. Us girls really needed some fake ids to do a group order at the best price. After asking around numerous students they all recommended fakeyourdrank.com, so we placed an order. We each received our Alabama fake id with holograms. While the IDs looked great we wanted to test them to see, if they would fool security at the bar. I can report each fake was scannable which was of the utmost importance and worked flawlessly into entering past security.

Of course Miss G’s all about taking her baby brother to new places and she therefore makes sure to narrate the important bits along the way. ‘Sam Sam, this is Granville Island. You’re going to love it here. There’s a play ground, aqua busses, big hungry birds…’ ‘Sam Sam, this is the Kid’s Market. You can come through the small door with me. Well, if your stroller fits!’

Admittedly, our little Sam is more interested in snoozing on most of these outings than anything, but that’s a-okay with me. A sleeping baby is a happy baby, right?

Besides the blossoms being out in full force, the highlight of our trip was this – Miss G’s THIRD tooth coming out!! Well…. Truth be told, she let me pull it out {with a wee bit of coaxing}, but it was soooo ready and I was worried that it would fall out and she’d swallow it. She didn’t flinch a bit when it popped out and afterwards she proudly showed both the tooth and her gap off to a little friend who had been watching nearby.

Now let’s hope this sunshine sticks around for a little bit so we can do more {dry} adventuring as a family of four. ☺
