Beach Morning

2 / 18 / 143 / 14 / 14

Another gorgeous morning and a few new sand toys meant another day spent at Anjafa Beach today.  We scoured the beach for treasures, opened a treasure shop, built sand castles, talked to stray kitties, and took about a gazillion photos…  It was a good morning and I’m so, so grateful for the lovely weather we’ve been having here in Kuwait.  Before long, we’ll be be melting from the heat, so we’re soaking it in while we can.

An Indoor Beach

Indoor Beach With Edible Sand | Mama Papa Bubba

We’ve made many beach-themed sensory bins in Miss G’s {almost} 3.5 years and I’ve got to say, they’re always a hit.  I mean, who wouldn’t want a miniature indoor beach to play at, right?!

Little Artist’s Drawing Kit

Little Artist s Drawing Kit | Mama Papa Bubba

There’s no doubt that we’ve been all about the ‘kit gifts’ this year…  Since moving to Kuwait, we’ve brought craft kits, play dough kits, and sensory play kits to Grae’s little friends’ birthday parties, and today we added type of kit to our gift list…  A drawing kit!  As soon as the birthday girl’s mom told me that she loved to draw, I knew we could put together a fun and easy kit filled with items that any little artist would love.

Pottery Painting Party

2 / 15 / 143 / 14 / 14

What a weekend it’s been.  Party number 4 of 5, a fifth birthday party, took place this morning…  The theme was ‘pottery painting’ and the birthday girl’s grandma actually made teacups and saucers for each of the girls to decorate.  The mamas stayed and we all sat outside under a tent while enjoying the gorgeous weather and painting our pottery pieces.  Grae and I went for combination of purple and aqua (can you guess who picked which colour?) and we’re excited to see the finished set once it’s been fired.  Here’s to having just one more party left this weekend!

Party Girl

2 / 14 / 143 / 14 / 14

Whew!  After a fun {slightly chaos-filled} Valentine’s Day tea this morning, we left our apartment in its ransacked state and headed out to a birthday party for Miss G’s very sweet little friend. The birthday girl’s present, a brand new trampoline, was a huge hit with Grae.  As were the cupcakes and prince and princess photo op cutouts….

Sabah Al Salem Playground

Finding nice playgrounds to visit in Kuwait is no easy task.  While there are a good number of them scattered around the country, most are fairly disastrous.  From our experience, they’re often smeared with food, littered with fast food garbage, and on the dangerous side due to broken equipment that seems to take months to be repaired.

Play Dough People {with loose parts}

Play Dough People With Loose Parts | Mama Papa Bubba

The moment I came across Kate’s printable people play dough mats on Pickelbums, I knew that they’d bring us hours of fun.  We loooove play dough, and pairing it with a mat and loose parts makes it even better.

iPhoneography // Heart Pancakes

With nowhere to be this morning, Miss G and I declared it a pancake day.  Her request?  Making them heart-shaped.  {Why not, right?}  We whipped up a batch of our usual wholewheat flax and oat pancake batter and attempted to make it pink with the addition of beet juice.  It didn’t work the way I was hoping it would {or at all really}, but oh well!  We put our batter into the same squeeze bottle we use when we make spiderweb pancakes, and then simply created heart-shaped outlines and filled them in.

Paper Roll Dolls

Paper Roll Dolls | Mama Papa Bubba

Miss G and I finally got around to putting some of our {bordering on out of control} toilet paper roll stash to use today.  Making paper roll dolls with Grae is something I’ve been wanting to for a long while now, and I’m so glad we finally got to it because it was a lot of fun {and these insanely cute little dolls came of it too}.

Simple Valentine s Day Play Dough Favours | Mama Papa Bubba

There’s no doubt that we love play dough.  In fact, we’ve given it out as gifts and favours several times before.  But that being said, I can’t take any credit for these sweet, simple little Valentine’s Day treats…

Melt My Troubles Away

‘Mama, when we get into the car, I’m going to take off my shoes, lay back in my cozy seat, wrap up in my soft blanket, read my new book, and…

Come here – I have to whisper this part…

{I lean in close and she cups her little hand around my ear}

And – just melt my troubles away.’

Using Mirrors and Glass Gems for Name Practice | Mama Papa Bubba

Thanks to Jackie of Happy Hooligans, we’ve been exploring mirror play over the last few days and absolutely loving it.  Mirrors make for an extremely unique playing surface, and adding in some iridescent glass gems takes it to a whole new level.
