Now that we’re back in Canada and plan to be here for a while, one thing I really want to help Miss G learn is our cell phone numbers. We still haven’t decided whether or not she’ll go to traditional kindergarten next year, but even if she doesn’t, I think it’s a valuable thing to know.

Squirt Gun Painting
Though this afternoon’s squirt gun painting wasn’t planned, a monstrous hour and 45 minute clean-up after quiet play time didn’t leave us much time before dinner, so we ditched our other {more involved} painting plans and tried something super simple and quick to set up!
Tackle Box Craft Kit
Miss G and I made several little portable craft kids for her friends in Kuwait, but when we got back to Canada last summer and wanted to create something similar for she and her cousin to take along on our house boating trip, we had zero luck finding carrying caddies like the ones we’d always found easily in the desert.
Cupcake Liner Flower Wreath
Our apartment door has a little hook attached to the middle of it, so naturally, it needs a wreath. In the fall we usually have our poppy wreath out there, then in winter we switch it up for the Christmas wreath Miss G made long ago, and then in spring, we usually have a little egg carton flower wreath Miss G made back when I was teaching classes at Bright Minds. This spring, however, it was time for a change. We needed something a little more bright and colourful {and we needed to use up all of the pretty Wilton cupcake liners we brought over from Canada}.
Play Dough LEGO Minifigures {an invitation to create}
While I didn’t have anything LEGO-inspired planned for today, Miss G and I had a little bit of downtime this afternoon and while brainstorming, we remembered the laminated LEGO people printouts we paired with plasticine for last summer’s house boating trip…. Perfect!
Colourful Painted Handprint Keepsakes
Yay! Another round of Preschool Book Club with our lovely friends – Buggy and Buddy, Sugar Aunts, Frogs Snails and Puppy Dog Tails, and Homegrown Friends!
Handprint Memory Box
I’ll say it. I’m obsessed with all projects/crafts/gifts that include kids’ handprints. Alright, and those that involve footprints too. I can’t help myself. They’re just so sweet and having special pieces stamped with Miss G’s handprints means that I get to freeze time and always have a reminder of how little she once was.
Upcycled Shoebox Dollhouse
Without a functioning recycling system where we live, I tend to hoard recyclables in hopes of putting them to good use at some point. Tin cans, cardboard flat packs, paper rolls, glass milk bottles… You name it, we’ve got it.
Beautiful Oops Painting
Finally. The Beautiful Oops instalment of our Preschool Book Club with our friends from Buggy and Buddy, Sugar Aunts, Frogs Snails and Puppy Dog Tails, and Homegrown Friends. We love this book!
Silly Embellished Photo Portraits
Oh my word… Gracen and I had such a great time making these silly embellished photo portraits this week. I can’t even tell you how into it she was. {Not to mention how into I was!}
Glow Stick Heart and Arrow Valentines
When I asked Gracen what she’d kind of valentines she’d like to make for her friends this year, she quite surely responded with ‘Something fun with glow sticks!’, which is how our glow stick heart and arrow valentines came about.
Washi Tape Heart Art
This little project totally came about on a whim this morning while Miss G and I were hanging out at home, but I think it turned out adorably and Grae had a blast making her washi tape heart art piece, so I’m calling it a win. Not to mention that the project is great for building fine motor skills too, so double win.
Christmas Tree Play Dough and Cookie Cutter Gifts
It’s very likely that our friends may soon disown us for constantly gifting them with play dough… And until then, we’ll probably just continue coming up with clever ways to present it and give it anyways {sorry, friends}. ☺
Gingerbread People Ornaments
One of my very favourite things about the holidays is making all kinds of fun homemade ornaments with Miss G. I just love it. We gather up our materials, put on some music, chat while we create side-by-side, and in the end, we’ve got at least a couple of new colourful and quirky ornaments to add to our colourful and quirky Christmas tree.
Fingerprint Heart Ornaments
Woohoo! The season of homemade Christmas ornaments has officially begun in our house and we’re already loving it. We always dedicate a morning or afternoon to creating special ornaments for the tree as a family, and then Grae and I add to our collection right up until Christmas {as you do}.
