I try really hard not to be that person who is constantly complaining about the weather {because who are we kidding – we have it so good here in Vancouver}, but let me tell you… I am SO ready for spring. Not that cold, grey, rainy everyday version of spring either. I’m ready for full-on sunshiny spring with blossoming trees, the buzzing of bees, warm temperatures, and rainy days only here and there. I’ve been willing it to come our way for weeks if I’m being honest. And with all of that wishful thinking, I was reminded of the amazing play dough fairy gardens Miss G and I did last year.

Butterfly World Play Dough Kit
With spring now in full force, it was time for a new addition to our ongoing play dough kit collection. Though my first thought was to put together a spring garden set, we’ve made several very similar kits in the past and our garden set got a ton of play last spring, so I figured we’d switch it up this time around.
St. Patrick’s Day Play Dough Kit
It’s been a long while since we put together our last play dough kit, so this week I finally made time to create a new one! And since I have a very hard time resisting anything rainbow, this time around we went with a St. Patrick’s Day play dough kit.
Dinosaur Play Dough Kit
A couple of weeks back, Miss G and I put together a fall-themed play dough kit, and it’s been getting a ton of use ever since. {Some of Grae’s dolls even got deliciously scented dresses early one weekend morning – hah!} It goes without saying that we love play dough kits, so we usually keep a few on hand, switching out the doughs and themes each season. Well, since we’ve only switched out the one so far, it was time for the Canadian Wilderness set and the ice cream set to go. And in in their place? This fun dinosaur play dough kit and a super awesome Halloween kit {which I’ll share later this week}.
Fall Play Dough Kit
As usual in our house, a new season means new play dough kits, and what better way to start off fall than with a fall-themed play dough kit?! Grae and I have been collecting little odd and ends for this one for the last couple of weeks, so we were really excited to finally put it all together and play with it this morning… {Fyi, It smells amaaaazing!}
Canadian Wilderness Play Dough Set
It goes without saying that being back in Canada means a need for some new play dough kits! {Obviously.} And since we’ve been in the land of beige for the last 10 months, what better way to celebrate being back in Canada than with a colourful Canadian wilderness play dough set?
Mermaid Play Dough Kit
Play dough kits. We can’t stop making them. Not for ourselves, and not for our friends. Tomorrow morning we’re headed to a preschool co-op play date combined with a little birthday celebration, and since the birthday girl requested a mermaid themed celebration, we thought we’d make her a mermaid play dough kit to match. ☺
Play Dough LEGO Minifigures {an invitation to create}
While I didn’t have anything LEGO-inspired planned for today, Miss G and I had a little bit of downtime this afternoon and while brainstorming, we remembered the laminated LEGO people printouts we paired with plasticine for last summer’s house boating trip…. Perfect!
Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site Play Dough Kit
After his dad’s Facebook post about the number of times the word ‘and’ shows up in the book Where the Wild Things Are, I knew that we had to get today’s birthday boy a new book {something with more than 8 sentences, preferably – that nifty fact also learned through a FB post about the dreaded/beloved Where the Wild Things Are ☺}.
Cupcake Play Dough Kit
Another birthday party, another play dough kit. ☺ I don’t think we can help it. I mention an upcoming birthday party, and Miss G automatically thinks, ‘play dough kit!!!’ This one, a cupcake play dough kit, was actually inspired by the little cupcake play dough favours that we gave out at Miss G’s very low-key birthday celebration we had here in Kuwait.
Spring Garden Play Dough Set
Spring on the horizon means that it was finally time for us to say au revoir to the Christmas and winter play dough kits we’ve had around for months… New season, new play dough sets – that’s what they say, right?? ☺
Play Dough Chocolate Shop

Mmmm…. Chocolate. Miss G and I made a batch of our super simple chocolate play dough {but added cream of tartar and glycerine since we had it on hand} for our recent Valentine’s tea, and took it out again this afternoon for some fun and easy play. Grae decided that she wanted to open a play dough chocolate shop, so that’s what we did.
Play Dough Subtraction Smash
This morning when we woke up to a miserable windy, dusty, trash-floating-through-the-air sort of day, Miss G and I opted to stay in and have a quiet day at home. We made a big pot of oatmeal, read stacks of books, played some games, built puzzles, and then played this super fun and simple play dough subtraction smash game I came up with a few days ago.
Play Dough Turkeys
Gosh, I love setting out fun play invitations for my girl. This one, set out today for our Thanksgiving celebration is nothing new, but the classics are classics for a reason, right? My kindergarten students used to love creating colourful feathered play dough turkeys at our play dough station and Miss G loved it just as much too!
Galaxy Play Dough
One of the things I do for the Crafty Kids class i teach here in Kuwait is prepare some open-ended materials for the children to explore and create with after they’re done their main project for the day. Since this week’s theme Bright Minds was ‘bedtime’, I decided to prepare what I originally called ’sleepy time starry sky play dough’. My crafty kids loved it and it continued to bring all sorts of fun throughout the afternoon once we were home. It was a big hit again today, and Miss G actually chose it as one of the activities to have out during our weekly play date with her little buddy from downstairs.
